Pin Parvati Trek Pass

It was in 1884 when a shepherd from the valley discovered this pass to visit Spiti by foot as an alternative to visiting Kaza in Spiti from Manali crossing all the way from Rohtang Pass. The Pin Parvati Pass is one of the most amazing and enchanting trek in Himachal Pradesh. The maximum height gain on this trek is about 5300 Meter. This trek is open for trekkers from July to September month looking after the snow condition at Mantalai Glacier from where the Parvati River originates and flow through Kullu valley while emerging in Beas River. Parvati is the largest tributary of River Beas by the way. Pin Parvati valley trek basically starts from Parvati valley in Kullu district where in the initial days of trek, one can experience the lush green pine forests and crystal clear glacier fed streams and as the passage goes by the, the trail becomes more steep and the altitude become more severe for the lungs and ultimately at the end of the trek you will reach at the Kaza center, an administration hub of Spiti valley. Pin Parvati Trek starts from easy going trail to more steep and then high altitude mountain crossing and the most thrilling unexplored Himalayan vistas. The elevation vary from day to day. A mixture of steep slopes, gradual climbing routes, barren Himalayas, snow-capped peaks and the rugged landscape and all these makes Pin Parvati Valley a must visit trek in Himachal Pradesh

Detailed itinerary for Pin Parvati Pass Trek

1
Day 01: Barshaini to Kalga (5 Kms / 2 Hrs)
Test

You will have to meet us at 8AM in Barshaini village of Parvati valley near Kasol. From where we will start our first trek towards. This day will be moderate. A simple hike gain will be suitable for height gaining attitude and acclimatize in such condition. Lunch & dinner at our camping site in Kalga.

Day 02: Kalga to Kheerganga (10 Kms / 5 Hrs)
Test

Today we will kick start our trek from Kalga to Kheerganga. Kheerganga hike will be low start in the beginning and later become more steep and tiring. Be ready for all the challenges such as rain at any time, mud and steep slopes. This trek is amazing in many ways, you will have plenty of time to capture Parvati valley through your camera. Later we will reach Kheerganga top and set up our tents. Evening will be free to visit Kheerganga hot spring on the top of the mountain. Overnight camp there.

Day 03: Kheerganga to Tunda Bhuj (5 Kms / 3 Hrs – 10500 Feet)
Test

Today we are proceeding for our next destination which is named as Tunda Bhuj. This trek is full of floras and faunas as most of the trails are through tall pine trees where you will have bird chirping voices, tranquility and much more. Once you will reach Tunda Bhuj region, you will observe the Parvati River at one side and Parvati valley open up with grand view on another side. Overnight camp at Tunda Bhuj.

Day 04: Tunda Bhuj to Thakur Kuan (11000 Feet)
Test

Today as you will start down walk from Tunda Bhuj to Thakur Kuan you will observe a totally different landscape, initially it was a simple trek and later it become more steep. The height you will be getting is 11000 Feet. After the early rise crossways the Pandu Bridge, walk down towards the Parvati River at your right takes 15 minutes passing through the fields. Overnight at camp.

Day 05: Thakur Kuan to Odi Thach (1.5 Hrs)
Test

Today you can take a longer rest at Thakur Kuan as we are chasing a beautiful trail towards Odi Thach which is compatibly a simple trail blessed with orchards and wild flowers all around. This is about 1.5 hrs walk . Overnight at Odi Thach.

Day 06: Odi Thach to Mantalai Lake (12 Kms / 8 Hrs)
Test

Today is the most tiring slopes out of all days. This trek is not just lengthy but steep and muddy. Mantalai is half way of our next camp site in the region. This lake is also the originate point of Parvati River. You will be gaining a good height so beware of acute mountain sickness. Overnight at camp.

Day 07: Mantalai Lake to Base Camp (10 Kms / 8 Hrs – 14850 Feet)

Today after breakfast get ready for the next thrill of your trek towards base camp of Pin Parvati Pass. This trek is long, steep and high in altitude. We will be pitching our tent at base camp of Pin Parvati Pass. The night will be cold.

Day 08: Base Camp to Pin Pass (Bhedu Thach) (6 Kms / 6 Hrs – 17500 Feet)
Test

Today it will be a transition from Parvati Valley to Spiti Valley while crossing the Pin Pass. You will observe the entire Parvati Valley in the another side and rugged mountain of Spiti on another side. You will see beautiful mountain and of-course Srikhand Mahadev Peak from distance. Overnight at Bhedu Thach.

Day 09: Pin Base to Tiya Camp Site
Test

On this day we'll be trekking to Tiya which is approximately 12 kms. It is a nice descent for most of the day. It is a brown spitian landscape surrounded by high peaks. You will be able to view the trail of Bhaba Pass on this route. Later we will reach Tiya in Spiti Valley. Overnight camp there.

Day 10: Tiya to Mud Village and drive to Kaza
Test

Finally at the end of the trek, you will be descending to the land of Spiti through Mud Village. From Tiya to Mud Village is about 4 hours or less trek and mostly toward down. Later from Mud to Kaza, we will share a taxi. In Kaza, we will stay at homestay or hotel.

Day 11: Kaza to Manali (148 Kms )
Test

Today is the last day of our journey. We will drive from Kaza to Manali which is about 8 Hrs drive. After reaching Manali, transfer you to suggested place near Mall Road. Our services end up here with great memories of Pin Parvati Pass Trek.
