Embarking on the Panch Kailash Yatra, pilgrims venture towards this hallowed sanctuary, where every step is a journey of devotion.Manimahesh, also affectionately called Chamba Kailash, stands as a testament to the devout reverence of Hindu worshippers. Its significance rivals even that of the famed Mansarovar Lake, drawing seekers of divinity from far and wide.Nestled in the embrace of the Holy Kailash Peak, believed to be the very dwelling of Lord Shiva himself, the shimmering Manimahesh Lake sits proudly at an elevation of 4,080 meters, a celestial oasis amidst the rugged terrain.
A sacred pilgrimage unfolds upon these sacred grounds, a revered trek that unfolds during a designated period of the year. Lord Shiva, the eternal guide and guardian of this spiritual odyssey, reigns supreme over the pilgrimage, his presence felt in every whisper of the wind and every step taken in his name.
Legend whispers tales of Lord Shiva's divine union with Goddess Parvati, culminating in the creation of the ethereal Manimahesh Lake, a symbol of their eternal bond. It is said that here, amidst the tranquil serenity, Lord Shiva embarked on a seven-century-long penance, the waters of the lake springing forth from his matted locks in a cascade of celestial grace.
Along the shores of the lake stands the revered marble image of Lord Shiva, the 'Chaumukha', a beacon of devotion for pilgrims who flock to pay homage. The journey to Manimahesh unfolds through diverse routes, each imbued with its own mystique and charm. Pilgrims from Lahaul-Spiti traverse the rugged terrain of Kugti Pass, while those from Kangra and Mandi navigate the enchanting Kawarsi or Jalsu Passes. Yet, the most accessible path lies through the ancient town of Chamba, leading pilgrims on a sacred voyage through Bharmaur-Hadsar.
Beyond the bustling hub of Hadsar, the pilgrims embark on a soul-stirring trek of 13 kilometers, guided by the whispers of Dhancho, Sundrasi, and Gaurikund, stations of respite and reflection along the path to divine communion at the ethereal Manimahesh Lake.
Itinerary for Kailash Manimahesh Trek
Bharmour is situated at an altitude of 7,000 feet above sea level. The journey begins with a morning pickup from Pathankot Cantt. Railway Station, where our representative will warmly welcome you. From there, embark on a picturesque drive to Bharmour, covering a distance of 165 km over approximately 6-7 hours. The route winds through scenic landscapes, passing through Pathankot, Banikhet, Chamba, and finally reaching Bharmour. Upon arrival, check into your hotel room and take some time to rest and freshen up. During your stay, explore the ancient Chaurasi Temple, boasting 84 temples constructed over 1,400 years ago. Spend the night at the hotel, indulging in a delicious dinner provided as part of your package, which includes taxi service, dinner, and accommodation.
At an altitude of 2,200 meters in Dhancho, your day begins with breakfast. You'll then drive to Hadsar, following a route through Bharmour, Hadsar, and finally to Dhancho. After arriving, you'll trek to Dhancho and check into the camps. Lunch will be served, followed by some free time to rest. In the evening, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the camp. The package includes taxi transportation, a guide, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and camp accommodation.
At this point at maximum altitude of 4,080 meters, your day starts with breakfast. You'll then trek 7 kilometers to Manimahesh Lake, taking about 5-6 hours. After lunch, you'll stay in camps at Gauri Kund. Dinner will be provided, and you'll stay overnight in the camps.
At an altitude of 2,100 meters in Bharmour, your day begins with breakfast. You'll then trek 13 kilometers to Dhancho, which takes about 5-7 hours. After lunch, you'll drive 13 kilometers from Hadsar to Bharmour, which takes about an hour. Once you check into your room, you can freshen up before having dinner and staying overnight. The package includes a taxi from Hadsar to Bharmour, a guide, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and an overnight hotel stay.
Your day starts with an early morning breakfast, followed by a drive to Pathankot. The route takes you through Bharmour, Chamba, and Banikhet. You will be dropped off at Pathankot Cantt. Railway Station, where the services will end.
